Phylogeny and classification of Odonata using targeted genomics

Dragonflies and damselflies are a charismatic, medium-sized insect order (~6300 species) with unique potential to approach comparative research questions. Their taxonomy many ecological traits for large fraction of extant species relatively well understood. However, until now, the lack large-scale phylogeny based on high throughput data connect both perspectives has precluded evolutionary questions these insects. Here, we provide an ordinal hypothesis classification anchored hybrid enrichment using total 136 representing 46 48 families or incertae sedis, 478 target loci. Our analyses recovered monophyly all three suborders: Anisoptera, Anisozygoptera Zygoptera. Although backbone topology was reinforced showed highest support values date, our genomic unable stronglyresolve portions topology. In addition, quartet sampling highlights scenarios that may have shaped (e.g., incomplete lineage sorting introgression) this taxon. Finally, in light phylogenomic reconstruction previous morphological molecular information proposed updated odonate define five new (Amanipodagrionidae fam. nov., Mesagrionidae Mesopodagrionidae Priscagrionidae Protolestidae nov.) reinstate another two (Rhipidolestidae stat. res., Tatocnemididae res.). Additionally, feature problematic taxonomic groupings examination future studies improve current phylogenetic hypothesis.
